Frequently Asked Questions/Patient Minder
Is Patient Minder difficult to use? How long will it take me to start using it effectively?

Patient Minder is designed to be easy to use and flexible enough to fit in with your office workflow. If you are computer literate you will find yourself using the program effectively in a very short period of time. Generally several hours of use will be all it takes to get you up to speed.
If you are computer illiterate, obviously it will take longer, but how long really depends on how you go about learning the program. Using it for a short period (30 minutes or so) each day will have you up to speed generally in a matter of a few months. We have physician users who had never (or barely) used a computer before that are happily using Patient Minder after 2-4 months. A context sensitive help system gives you targeted help when and where you need it. This greatly reduces the learning curve and avoids lots of frustration.
For those that need or desire it, we offer onsite setup and training. Contact us for more information about these services if you are interested.
Is Patient Minder HIPAA compliant? Will using Patient Minder make my office HIPAA compliant?

First lets clear up a very common misunderstanding. No software can be HIPAA compliant. Only a covered entity can be HIPAA compliant. Anyone that tells you that their software is HIPAA compliant does not understand the regulations. Additionally, no software in and of itself can make your office HIPAA compliant. There are multiple factors that go into HIPAA compliance. Patient Minder follows all HIPAA privacy and security regulations that are currently applicable, and will continue to do so in the future. Patient Minder offers 6 different levels of user access along with audit trails, that will certainly satisfy many of the requirements needed to make your office HIPAA compliant. Keep in mind that HIPAA compliance is a process and using Patient Minder is a step in that process.
Is the price of Patient Minder fair? How come it doesn't cost a few hundred dollars like some other EMR programs?

The pricing of Patient Minder is very fair. At current prices it represents an exceptional value, providing better ease of use and functionality than programs costing 10-20 times as much. Some EMR programs offer a "base" price of a few hundred dollars and charge extra for additional features. These programs end up costing in the thousands of dollars by the time you are done paying for the extra functionality you want. Patient Minder is priced to provide maximal value to the customer while allowing the company to remain strong and viable over the long haul.
Yes, there are some EMR programs that do cost only a few hundred dollars. There are also physicians who participate with HMO's and Medicaid programs that don't pay enough to cover the cost of providing care to their patients. We don't understand the rationale behind either of those decisions. MindWare Medical has been in business since 1995 and we plan on being around for the long haul, continually improving, upgrading and adding to Patient Minder. Continually providing superior customer service and value. Look around at your other choices and decide for yourself.
What specialties can use Patient Minder? Is there a limit on the size of the practice that can use this program?

Patient Minder was developed in a Family Practice setting, but really would be suitable for most types of practice. The macros are easily edited and added to, providing the flexibility needed to adapt to most specialties. The program was designed with the solo and small group practice in mind. The technology can handle 30-40 concurrent users, making it very viable for groups of up to 10 or so doctors and their staffs.
How do I know if Patient Minder is for me?
