Patient Minder Users Speak Out

I am a 50 year old family doctor with a bad history of computer hate. One of my fondest memories was the evening I tossed our personal computer into the trash and heard the lovely crashing sounds. Needless to say I was somewhat apprehensive if not a bit hostile when our medical director wanted me to give up dictating my records for a system involving entering information into a computer!!

I was dragged in with the rest of the group. After a few months of keyboarding and mousing it ... the coldwater part ... I found myself entranced by the advantages. The information is available immediately. It is organized. It is reproducible. We have pop up availability of lab results, and can print out prescriptions with the touch of a button. Easy networking with the other doctors in a large office with no chart pulling. Ok, now I'm a believer, and I'm up to speed with state of the art, "everythings there", computerized patient information. Patient Minder IS NOT going in the trash!!

I have been using Patient Minder EMR software for the last two years. I have been very satisfied with all of its functions, ease of use and navigation, and more importantly, it’s stability. As a medical director for a community health center, I had been searching for a system that could be integrated into the organization. Our organization consists of five clinics and has eighteen providers. The challenge was to find a system that could handle our needs without compromising the provider’s time and decreasing their patient encounters. The system had to have a fairly short learning curve with ease of navigation and data entry when documenting a patient encounter.

I researched and tried multiple EMR programs that are currently on the market. Some of my dealings with these programs went no further than trying out their demos. These systems proved to be too time consuming in the inputting of the patient encounter. I knew that the providers would end up getting frustrated and would give up the use of the program as it would cause them to get too far behind. There were a couple of products that were installed in the office on a trial basis. These were the ones that I found easier to work with. Unfortunately, these programs ended up causing even more delays as they would frequently cause the computers to freeze, losing not only the time it took to re-boot the system but data that had already been entered was lost and had to be re-entered.

Patient Minder has proven to be a very reliable EMR system. During my two years of using the program, I cannot remember one time in which the program caused the computer to freeze or lock up. Patient Minder is very stable and the ease of use and navigation definitely set it apart from all of the other programs I had researched. I would definitely recommend Patient Minder to anyone that is looking for a reliable and functional EMR program.

Patient Minder has improved our coding and also gives us easy access to a patients visits at any time without the use of the paper chart. It offers a very flexible way to enter your data or make changes as you gather information from patients during the course of several visits. It has improved our quality of care with it's reminder system and ability to review immunizations. You can review the history with a summary without having to flip through a paper chart.

The macros really help to improve the speed of chart documentation without omitting important details. If the notes are required by a subspecialist or for referral purposes it can be done quickly without omitting pertinent information important for the care of the patient. The program is user friendly and the interface is intuitive and structured in the same way as the physician workflow during patient care. Patient Minder has exceeded my expectations. I have been very pleased with the Patient Minder software program. It is easy to learn and very user friendly. The ability to toggle the help windows on and off is excellent. The company support has also been excellent. My questions are answered quickly and if I make suggestions, they are listened to and considered. I like the fact that this is an electronic medical record developed by a physician, not some computer expert. He knows what is important. I find the program to be excellent and would recommend it for the solo practitioner up to a large multi-specialty group.

Patient Minder EMR has been a lifesaver for me as a Physician Assistant. This program is very easy to use and well organized. It allows for quick access to patient information instead of thumbing through the paper chart or waiting days for a dictation. I began using Patient Minder last year with an extremely limited knowledge and expertise in computers. At first I tried to do things with the program that would make any software creator cringe. However no matter what I did or did not do, Patient Minder did not crash and burn. That in itself is more than just a minor miracle.

Now that I have been using this software for about nine months, I can think of no other way to accomplish my charting, generate prescriptions, excuses and referrals. And all this in less than 2-3 minutes usually. My records now are ready for any medical records reviewer, for any reason.
